gonna be honest with you is probably going to be more of a gush session let me know that you know that don't piss off just yet stick around but let's take a feed in the machine that is that YouTube algorithm but I'm just saying that's a bloody good time [Music] so evil dead Rises a new Evil Dead film it has Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi as producers but Lee Cronin directed this one there's his family in this really crickety creepy apartment which is a great setting for a movie like this one of them finds
This creepy book like hey Book of the Dead sounds great then whoops the blood hits the fan now when I saw a trailer for this one people seemed really excited and I was like it seems like just another horror movie another demon-possessing people has that really dank dark pick your Blum
House picture it kind of looked like that but make no mistake they saved all the great raymie-ish flavor for the film and that was amazing to see I'm not saying in that Nostalgia bait kind of way though it is nostalgic to see that for this world absolutely it also does have some fun nods too evil dead but it doesn't rely on that what I'm talking about is some of the camera work Parts in here I was like are you sure raymie didn't direct this the title segment for Evil Dead
rise itself I was like are you sure Remy didn't direct this if not for continuity's sake just for the sake of enjoyment and fun while watching the movie completely worked for me and I thought everyone in the movie did a great job Lily Sullivan's essentially the hero of this film she's the cool ants who's forced
into this situation to try to get her nieces in nephews out of this situation because well their mom has died and become big evil the kids were great in this movie to the point where I want to be like does the studio cover the therapy bills just just asking just seems important to ask that but Alyssa Sutherland as dead possessed demon
mom was the film yeah being an effective demon like this is not just about contorting or floating or Screaming but being vile and mean enough to say the meanest things to the people in the room knowing it cuts that deep mom let me let the maggots down that's hurt I'm gonna be honest with you there were moments in here I was laughing
I I wasn't laughing at the movie I was laughing because the demon she was having such a good time I couldn't help but have a good time before you go out there being like Oh Jeremy said it was a comedy let's do it and you yourself find yourself in a therapy session blaming me for that I'm not saying it's a comedy I'm not even saying the movie's funny I'm saying when there are characters and actors on screen having a good time
I find it infectious and I'm likely to have a good time I guess that also translates to Demons tormenting an entire family I don't know what to say or maybe I'm not Jeremy anymore maybe Jeremy's with the man good smell she's a demon that checks all the boxes playful frightening Sinister scary not relying on jump scares
or I can't think of a jump scare in this entire thing I'm just saying she was such a [ __ ] [ __ ] in the movie couldn't help but enjoy myself there's a psychological warfare element when tormenting a family when it comes to a demon doing that I think a lot of horror movies just kind of skip past that part they're like all right let's get to the jump scares this movie doesn't it plays it smart it does it effective
it does what it does well and yes this movie's a complete and total bloodbath absolutely if you got to the end of Dead Alive and you were like that was a good time I'm sure you'll love it if you enjoy measuring your on-screen blood volume not in gallons but elevators full found a movie for you now this movie's not going to be for everybody absolutely but if you're an evil dead fan or generally speaking
a horror movie fan this one stands out right with the camera work the violence I thought this movie was incredibly imaginative the movie's not that long it's an hour 40 minutes but there is a point where I was like if it ends now that would be great it's still going it's starts going on ridiculous the movie was 10 minutes shorter I don't mind saying it would have been perfect
I didn't know what I expected from this movie what I got was the most enjoyable horror film I personally have experienced in years this is a film that was crafted to be part of that annual Halloween horror movie bash that you have with your friends and it's worth watching and worth buying on Blu-ray alright so evil dead rise have you seen it what did you think about it whatever you thought comment below let me know and as always if you like what you've
like I'm going to try to speedrun and power through this review you got better things to do than listen to me talk about this movie I got better things to do than to talk about this movie so let's just get it [Music] done you're still here well bless you you make it all worth it in my book
everyone else bailed play their balers Gate 3 but not you you stuck around and that makes you mighty so founders day is a movie it's a throwback to 90s Slasher in this small horror movie town There's an election going on in this little town all the while there's a killer
out there in a purge mask and a wig bludgeoning people to death with a gavl this movie has the biggest case of identity crisis I noticed that early on when I was like who's the main character in this thing who's the Sydney Prescott the Nancy Thompson the Lorie Strode is clear enough at a point is Naomi Grace's
character but this movie spends so much time concentrating on other characters Side characters possible victims possible Killers also the movie is absolutely blute cheese characters in this movie just act like cartoons some characters more consistently than others there other characters in the movie
though they act perfectly normal then at a point it's like why are you acting cartoony and I know there's a probable counterargument I might run into in the comments section if I am exercising the art of YouTube which is the art of the straw man this movie is supposed to be a slasher film parody they're supposed to act cartoony
it's done that way purposefully I get it I get it in the same way I get that shitty tasting coffee is still coffee but if it tastes like [ __ ] it's only fair to call it as it is same thing kind of and it comes down to entertainment and fun factor I just wasn't laughing it wasn't ever funny but it's clearly trying to be funny in parts so I felt like
I was just sitting there watching Bad standup comedy you know how a we've all been there you know how awkward that can get there were times it was clearly trying to be more serious and then other times it was trying to be a parody it almost feels like and this is just
I'm just telling you how it feels not telling you how it happened but it feels like while this movie was being filmed someone was cutting it together in the editing room and someone made the call like look this is not Landing I'm sure we can Rebrand and lean into it being some sort of parody cheesy comedy
thing here's hoping but since movies are filmed out of order you have this serious and campy tone that intermittently just flows and Es throughout it inconsistently again I don't know I wasn't there it's probably not how it went down I'm just saying how it feels but if at a point I found out that's how it did go
down I would not be the least bit surprised this movie is so screamed too you have the Dewey character even has the mustache I will say the end of the movie you know the reveal a movie like this is always going to have a reveal there was definitely something clever there I be honest I was like I I can see something here bummer is the rest of the movie getting here was a [ __ ] slog it's boring it's cheesy but still not fun or funny did not have engaging
characters I'm not going to remember any characters from this movie at all actually scratch that there is one there is one because I saw this dude I was like I recognized that guy took me about four and a half seconds I was like who was Corey Matthew's dad from Boy Meets World okay so I'll remember him but I'll remember him because Cory Matthew's dad from Boy Meets
World in a world where it's Dollar Store Thanksgiving more to the point it feels like Dollar Store Eli Roth I don't think that's a title any movie actually wants but there we are maybe in 20 years people will point back to reviews like this and be like see people didn't even like this movie
when it came out now it's a classic until then I just wanted out of this thing I almost left early glad I didn't because the wrapup was actually the best part of the movie but all in all the movie remains dog [ __ ] one thing that bothered me in the movie and I legitimate I don't think it was the auditorium I was in was there were scenes when music would just blast blare in the film it was so loud it was so much louder
than the voices in the center channel I kind of want to give the movie the benefit of the doubt maybe someone at the movie theater had the auditorium eqed incorrectly I don't know I bring it up because if someone else watched this movie did you run into that like that twom minute long segment where it's just music blasting where you like yeah okay well I'll just wait this one out all right so founders day have you seen it what did you think about it what's your favorite cult classic or bad slasher movie we all have him and we all love him [ __ ] yours might be founders day whatever it is comment below let me know and as always if you like what
CED out 90s action movies are back in 2024 baby let's [Music] go and for the YouTube sensor algorithm robot I was talking about Coca-Cola what do you think I was talking about so beekeeper Stars Jason Stam which means you know exactly
what this movie is going to be he's pretty reliable in that sense it's like when you see Liam NES in a movie trailer and he's like honey how's it going Happy Thanksgiving you're like oh okay so that's the family that's going to die so we can go on his Rampage same thing when you see Jason
STM in here and he's like yeah I'm a beekeeper I'll keep bees you know that's just a strange way for him to say military Special Ops professional killer type is going to lay down some bodies and after his nice old landlord is robbed and then dead yeah that's exactly what he does your enjoyment
or lack of enjoyment in this movie is going to depend on what you want and what you accept the movie as being movie is directed by David a director of Fury and Suicide Squad not that the suicide squad remakable nonsense no we're talking the real deal I will say this the first 30 minutes
or so of this movie was awesome we're not talking cheesy 9s action movie fun awesome I'm talking it was actually pretty sweet I mean the villains the scumbags the baddies they seemed a little cartoony but for the most part it's this sweet nice old lady who gets scammed with the one one of those online popups and she calls she's like oh it looks like
I have a virus can you help me here's my IP address that's real [ __ ] that's out there my mom almost got hit with one of those things it's no joke don't [ __ ] with the elderly that's the lesson here now first building he takes out I'm just saying it was satisfying I mean if you're not at all a '90s action movie fan we'll pass this one by there's going to be nothing here for you no judgment
I'm just saying it as a fact it's like if I'm talking about a beach talking about how oh that beach was a lot of fun Anakin Skywalker watching the video I should say if you don't like sand you probably won't like it though not everything's for everyone but when it had focus when it was clear it was trying to be this celebration of '90s action movies that's when the movie was actually
in its Zone the action sequences were enjoyable some of the kills some of the hits were really bloody and satisfying that said in the second half of the movie we'll say the last Act of the movie or so it starts to take itself too seriously to the point where the cheese doesn't feel like a celebration anymore the cheese starts to feel bad maybe it's the stick that was wearing off
maybe it's the fact that the movie was taking itself too seriously by the end point is it didn't mesh as well as it did in the first half I mean The Beekeeper thing is ridiculous but it was fun ridiculous at first and the be puns there's so many be puns in this movie The be puns in beekeeper are comparable to the ice cold and freezing puns in Batman and Robin
it's funny at first then just gets out of control but that is the decade they're pulling from I think but it's when people start talking about him and they're like look we have to deal with The Beekeeper you don't understand he's a beekeeper I just couldn't take it as seriously as I felt like the movie wanted me to take it it's like when people argue about friendsgiving
it's like I I want to take it as seriously as you want me to take it but I just can't because you're saying it that way low key has a really solid cast Jeremy Irons is in the movie Josh Hutcherson I thought was great as what was his name Hunter this movie is so Dollar Store John Wick you know it it's just you can see the makeup in here you can see the DNA
of it the quiet retired professional killer type some rich [ __ ] causes death in his life that brings him out of retirement now he's going after that Young Rich [ __ ] the Young Rich Punk's Father Figure who's in the know who knows the kind of damage this assassin coming out of retirement is going to bring down on them there's even this super secret underground call center you can tell someone was
like okay John Wick but hear me out on this a beekeeper but unlike John Wick will'll have these stretches particularly in the second half where the action slows down concentrate on these two FBI people that I personally didn't give a [ __ ] about I should have because one of them is the daughter
of the old lady who died I feel like there should be more care there but I just didn't care also their Dynamic was weird he was like oh hey you like fires your mom's old house it's burning down let's go I was like I her mom who died yesterday you want to deliver that with some gloves on there buddy holy
[ __ ] yeah in the end it's a Jason STM action movie that totally throws back to cheesy 9s action movies cheesy 9s action movies it's not a smooth ride some of the dialogue is just laughable like laughing at the movie not with the movie but there are more than a few scenes in which you're laughing with the movie because the movie knows what it is and it leans into it sometimes it leans a little
too far sometimes it pulls back on the lean takes itself a little too seriously it's a little inconsistent in that sense it doesn't keep in what we call the goldilock Zone the whole time if you and your friends love those cheesy 99s action movies this could be a fun movie
to add to that collection add to that binge night bring the friends bring the alcohol fun time if you're drunk yeah now it's a party all right so the beekeeper have you seen it what did you think about it or what's your favorite '90s throwback action movie not from the 9s feel like I asked you that recently well I haven't asked you that in 2024 let this be the first time whatever it is whatever you think comment below let
wow what a binge so I'm undeniably late to this party for the last month or so I've consistently seen a number of people suggest this show on Netflix blueeyed Samurai me being this late to the party I imagine there's nothing I can add to the conversation about blueeyed Samurai but my God I just watched it and I want to talk about it what is blueeyed Samurai will simply put is a Revenge fueled eight episode blood bath and that's probably all I need to say that's enough right you need to hear me talk about this anymore I feel like that is the sales pitch but I guess I still will why algorithm baby it's an animated series on Netflix takes place in 17th century feudal Japan Japan at this time has adopted a very strict border policy only Japanese people allowed in Japan but with any system there are those who slip through the cracks thus our protagonist Mizu is half white half Japanese has blue eyes which she hides and yes that's she not he it's treated as a reveal at the end of the first episode but the voice actor is clearly a woman woman but I was like so is Bart Simpson so we'll see could just be a dude with a feminine voice turns out Mizu is a woman posing as a man in that mulong kind of way but in Japan should get this out of the way right now before you go you know what sounds exciting the family and I will watch it this weekend stop video the show is very graphic violent yes also in terms of sex and nudity a lot of graphic sexual one could say debaucherous content there were a couple scenes in particular where I was like you just you had to didn't you you just did but generally speaking it's within context and character with that out of the way the animation in this show is absolutely gorgeous without losing the artistic nature of it being animation there is a realism to the character's movements even eye movements it was shocking I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed this movie with motion capture or people and then did the art over it the action sequences are fluid they're smooth they're well choreographed this is where dark gritty action fueled stories lend themselves to animation cuz if this was was live action you would notice all the CGI green screen going down all of it being animated it just looks [ __ ] incredible also the side characters ranged from endearing to complex and engaging there are truly unlikely pairings that happen in this show like the first one the first Ally she meets Ringo voiced by masoka who played hero Nakamura in the show Heroes who essentially has that same lovable type energy in here who has no hands which I really appreciate a huge theme in this entire series is one of overcoming and growing past the hand you were dealt yes that has to do with the faithful and Noble companion who is very useful on the quest who was born without hands but also the blind sword maker who has no eyes there's actually a conversation between the two of them where he was like oh you need hands to be a Samurai and the sword maker as he is forging a sword says and you need eyes to be a sword maker the princess set to be married off who refuses to have that be her life which with her at first I was like all right let's let's get back to the vengeance but by the end there's actually a really complex and fulfilling Arc with her in her situation trying to keep it vague cuz I don't want to it's not a playby play for the entire show I'm just saying point is the characters aren't defined by their seeming limitations or handicaps Ringo isn't just the guy with no hands he's her conscience that Jiminy Cricket character the good angel on her shoulder telling her the Paragon decision she should probably be making the sword maker isn't just the blind guy he's the wise Warrior teacher and tigan isn't just the douche childhood bully I would have been fine with that I would have been cool if it was like oh this childhood bully now in adulthood we meet again bully needs to be taught a lesson but do you want fine or do you want great this show knows the difference and it goes well what if enemy becomes friendenemy and what if Frenemy becomes one of the most complex characters with one of the most fulfilling arcs of growth in the entire series and that brings us to our main character Mizu out the gates strong badass capable confident but also she's a very flawed human which makes her relatable because aren't we all but most importantly not Invincible she's not Invincible because there's an understanding here that part of a character's strength comes from how they react to losing you don't have a character that ever gets knocked down the audience will never know how they react to that thus they will never know how strong the character actually is not to put too fine a point on the samurai sword analogy but there was a samurai sword analogy I heard 20 years ago now from a pastor he told me how in order to forge a sword you have to heat it beat it Smash It fold it cool it heat it beat it against it's a very it's a very rough process on the steel but by the end what you have is a very strong sword he said people are very much the same way talking about you know trials in life to the point it's not about being Untouchable it's not about being Invincible or instantly great at everything it's about being on your quest and when you get your ass beat to an inch of your your life which she definitely does a few times in here having the conviction and fortitude to continue the quest maybe you got to heal up but after you're healed up you continue the quest that's her she does that it's just [ __ ] awesome blue-eyed Samurai does a good job at illustrating that heartache is not weakness being beaten in a battle is not a weakness it's an opportunity to get back up and show your strength emotion is strength you can be badass but be flawed in fact the actual character flaw she has which the show does address is how hardened she has become for her Quest people aren't supposed to be this hardened people aren't supposed to go on Revenge quests like this and be this good at it if we're talking Star Wars this is the path to the dark side Mizu is not the role model of the show that's why we have Ringo he's the role model with that knowledge can come growth all of these elements come together to make a character I found immensely compelling even her sword feels like a character there's an interesting story as to how she got it how it was forged there's an absolute feeling of if she loses that sword how can we go on which again comes from the love and understanding of the lore that sword is supposed to be the soul of a samurai it's supposed to feel like a part of her and it absolutely does feel like a part of her I will say at the very end there was something unfulfilling about it hate to say it cuz generally speaking it's otherwise pretty [ __ ] Flawless just a personal thing with me I was like you can we're either GNA set up for season two or this is going to be fulfilling we're going into season two all right but in the end bluee Samurai incredible binge most enjoyable binge I've actually had in quite a while as I'm a night owl at about 2 a.m. I had to actively consciously think okay I kind of want to save a couple episodes for tomorrow I don't want to burn through the whole thing in a day watching a show entirely in one day or having to make a conscious effort to save a little for tomorrow both are compliments in their own way I consciously elected to save the last two episodes for the next day and I mean that in the best way possible thank you for the suggestions in the comment sections I do read your comments Eight Episodes on Netflix right now again probably want to wait till the kids are asleep to watch it there so bluee Samurai have you seen it what did you think about it whatever you thought comment below let me know and as always if you like what you've seen here and
Night Swim - Movie Review
a new year is upon us and we're starting it out with this January horror film So It [Music] Begins so night swims a horror film starring Wyatt Russell and car Condon they buy a new house with them and their two kids caveat that they find out later the pool is haunted by an entity scary creepy Shenanigans ensue funny enough after the first pool kill and the movie started going and it was you know boring I was thinking all right that first pool kill scene would have been a fine short film I would find out a little later turns out it was this is based off of a short film from 2014 which taking a short film and drawing it out to feature length we've seen that work before night swim on the other hand positives first let's let's be sweet before we're sour uh there was an underwater shot or two near the end in particular that I thought was interesting sounds like I'm really scraping and trying to find compliments for this movie but there was a shot one in particular near the end where I was like well that's the most interesting thing that's happened in this movie almost feels like one of those scenarios where you know we've all done it you're talking with your friends oh that'd be really cool in a movie this happens just spitballing for horror movie moments and shots and they came up with this one moment this one shot for a movie a horror movie that takes place underwater then the true tragedy and weight of the fact that you have to build an engaging movie around that shot that's one of the problems this movie runs into it has to put people in these dangerous situations but make it feel natural it never feels natural there's a scene where this girl's playing Marco Polo with her boyfriend at night so you know something's happening she has her eyes closed she's saying Marco he's saying Polo and then the creepy things start happening she starts actually getting freaked out but they have to keep her in this scary situation which means she can't open her eyes so she just kind of doesn't she's like stop it stop messing around you're freaking me out I was just like then open your [ __ ] eyes open your eyes and get out of the pool this ends right now or you can keep them closed cuz we got to pad that runtime this movie largely feels like runtime padding that's one of the dangers when you have an interesting premise that works for a short film that you want to stretch out to feature length film you got to make it work and feel organic this feels like a short film premise that works as a short film and about an hour and 15 minutes of other [ __ ] I appreciate that this movie is only 90 minutes that said it's still felt like two full hours they did it right in making it only 90 minutes and it all feels for not that Marco Polo scene just one of the many scenarios characters just make dumbass decisions and that all boils down to the writing the script it's bad I will say there were a couple of actors in the movie that I felt made the most of it there's their characters in the movie there's a pool technician guy and a real estate agent I really feel like the actors who played those two characters were like are you [ __ ] serious with this script okay here here's what's going to happen I'm going to deliver these lines in a way that showcases some of my comedic timing I'm getting something out of this good on them they brought some levity to a film that was largely a boore that said it felt like they were in a completely different movie I named them because they stood out more all the actors in the movie you can tell are trying there's only so much an actor can do with the script sometimes it's just blatantly obvious that it's not on the actors I mean [ __ ] Wyatt Russell and Carrie Condon we've seen them be great so there is that data yeah in large part this movie felt like a Franken Stitch of a few other horror movies but it's in a pool this time funny enough I do see potential in the lore I say potential because the reality of the situation in this movie is that it's shoddy as [ __ ] but the potential is there for a possible sequel you get some better writers on the script for a sequel could be that Annabelle situation where the first movie was asked but the sequel is actually pretty enjoyable though the lore is inconsistent as [ __ ] like why' the thing kill the cat I mean the cat dies in The tra trailer so it's a spoiler but not a spoiler but it's something you should probably know especially if you're a cat person but in terms of what this entity is what it wants and why I left the theater like wait a minute why' it kill the cat there's no actual reason for it to do that other than the fact that this movie's borrowing from a lot of other horror movies and well in other horror movies the family pet dies so I guess we'll steal that one too even though it doesn't make sense if it just had better momentum it might have been able to be that fun cheesy bad movie that you can laugh at with friends at a Halloween party as it stands this is the movie you put on during the Halloween horror movie binge when you're ready to call it you want the party to wind down well we're starting 2024 off right so to speak watch the short on YouTube save yourself about an hour and 25 minutes all right so night swim have you seen it what did you think about it if you're going to say it or what's a surprisingly enjoyable January horror film for you whatever it is whatever you think comment below let me know and as always if you like what you've seen here and
The Iron Claw - Movie Review
this is low energy Jeremy have I gotten trash sleep yes did this movie emotionally wreck me yes are these compounding to be low energy me today yes but I love talking about good movies so here we [Music] go so ironclaw is written and directed by Sha Durkin and it's a biopic about the family of wrestling royalty the Von Erics more specifically the tragedy that befell this family between the early ' 880s and early 90s the film stars an almost unrecognizable Zack Efron as Kevin von Eric and my God this dude put in the work both emotionally and physically to a point where I'm I'm concerned for his health it's a lot of bulking up man I'm not a doctor but Mike he looks like he's going to war for the Imperium the man is built like Warhammer armor another Warhammer reference for you second one this week I know you like him is this the best performance of his career out a doubt without a question we've seen him take roles lately where you can tell he's like I want to be taken seriously as a dramatic actor and yeah there there's a lot writing on his shoulders this is a movie about family more specifically the Brotherly Love among a group of brothers but the film seen through his eyes there's a lot of emotional weight on his shoulders dude absolutely crushed it now I didn't know the story of Theon Erics it's one of those names I've heard like when someone like oh do you know about the Von Erics I'm like this sounds familiar but I've never lived in Texas and I was locked into wrestling for a time that time being when I found out when you're NWO your NWO for Life locked into that anytime it was on in the '90s so I was going into this movie pretty fresh never saw a trailer didn't know what it was about safe to say in the words of the great illan you are not prepared that said I will brace you a bit of what this is about this is a film about loss thing is you don't just see the loss it's not just a biopic telling a story it is that but you're not just seeing the loss you are feeling the loss the film does build up the brotherly love to a point where you feel every loss fractures The Souls of the remaining Brothers I would call it almost biblical in that sense the phrase I'm trying to say is it just feels that real that first loss feels like that first tip of the Domino in which this family just goes on a downward emotional spiral there is unexpected light levity in the movie in the form of Hope and that's Lily James when dealing with this much loss darkness and sorrow it's easy to feel like the walls are closing in she's such an anchor you know I I appreciate that about the film I love me a good cinematic emotional wrecking the week of Christmas as much as the next person but I did appreciate that Zack Efron's character Kevin von Eric has that that feeling of Hope in the form of love all these elements come together to feel like a biopic that's not just hey here's pain for the sake of pain and it did a good job at illustrating the family Dynamic that sets up the emotional state of the sons as they go down this road the ball busting father amazingly played by hul mcney who set up a competitive Dynamic among the brothers he's the textbook case the father who didn't get to fulfill his dreams didn't really get his shot so he's trying to live his dreams through his sons but he's talking to his sons at The Breakfast Table and he's like no you're my favorite then you then you but the rankings can change I was like this doesn't seem healthy is the father Fritz Von Eric responsible for his sons who took their own lives is the subject of much heated debate on the internet without pointing fingers I will say the parental tactic shown in the movie are not conducive to happiness however the more interesting thing is it would have been so easy for the movie to be like and that's why the sons hated the father but it showed how they loved their father and wanted to live up to him they wanted to live up to his expectations they wanted to they wanted to make him proud which makes it more sad but also more common and although Zach Efron is the star he's the audience's eyes he's he's our vessel taking us through this emotional roller coaster it's not the Zach Efron show this is a movie where a lot of characters a lot of actors have that moment to shine there were a couple of things in this movie we'll call them nitpicks well one in particular feels like a nitpick the other one's worth addressing the nitpick one is that there are wrestlers in this movie that are recognizable to me like Ric Flair I know who that is he was with WCW when I watched WCW so Ric Flair in this movie just felt like well someone doing a Ric Flair impersonation like when he's backstage in the locker room talking I'm like all right that feels real that feels like Rick Flair when he was being Ric Flair the character in the ring the trash talking session before the match that's when it felt like an impersonation and for nothing else it shows how these wrestling personalities are lightning in a bottle very hard to replicate an actor being a wrestling persona for a movie the other one is that there's a brother that's just not in this movie yeah after the movie I was like okay let's look into this where's that brother yeah a whole brother just not in it in a movie that's all about the brothers it's weird that he was left out cinematically speaking I do understand the argument as to why whether it's the dramas going on for long enough it would have made it longer and that's it's a lot of pain to sit through we don't have Martin Scorsese or quent Teran ino's wit to blend into the drama to lighten it up I see the arguments there's a part of me that gets it but there's also another part of me that's like well if you're talking about this family's pain that's a real person who also experienced that but in the end man this movie is an emotional roller coaster to say the least it's one that I didn't know what to expect from it really glad I watched it but if you are down for experiencing this emotional story it will stick with you this is one of those movies that surprised me cuz I I got out of the theater and I was like oh wow that was emotional and it wasn't until I was laying in bed waiting to go to sleep I started replaying it in my mind really thinking about it that's when the emotional weight of all of it really started to hit me it's a story about fathers sons and family and the power in a family the power to both hurt and heal this one's worth watching and worth buying on Blu-Ray so the iron claw have you Rebel Moon - Part 1: A Child of Fire - Movie Review
all right so Zack Snyder wanted to do Star Wars they said no and he was like all right I'll just do my own [Music] thing so Rebel moons essentially Zack Snider's rated our Star Wars but not Star Wars movie Story Goes word around the campfire is Zack Snider had this idea for this gritty rated R Star Wars story took it to Lucas film they were like we don't want it Netflix was like you can do it here bring all your Zack Snider isms to the Star Wars but not Star Wars world and make it rated PG-13 please and this is for part one a child on fire so there's always someone on fire it's always catching fire the girl on fire child of fire catchy stuff throw fire in the title you got yourself a win so the Stars Sophia Bella as in Star Wars there's big Evil Empire and they're a fascist Empire they're Space Nazis difference here is when you see the outfits you're like oh they're not just Space Nazis they're Nazis in space it starts out with his Zack Snider's attempt at doing SFI intro to in glorious bastards we come to Sophia Butella this character who's been hiding out on this Farm Moon she's got skills so she sets off to get a team together to take on the evil empire and when this movie first started out we're talking the first world you're on I thought the CGI was really impressive probably because it's the first world it's the hook you want the CGI to be most impressive in the intro after that the CGI is kind of intermittent some CGI looks great other times looks iffy those tentacles look CGI as [ __ ] also why I get you're going to pull from Star Wars you really want to pull from the tentacles in Rogue one don't do that that's the scene we skip when we watch Rogue one some scenes of noticeable green screen some scenes not but if we are talking visual flare it's absolutely in here cuz it's kind of Zack Snider's wheelhouse also I'm going to do Galactic scale World building wish me luck but it'll probably look nice but when I was on this moon this Imperial generals being scary Sophia batell is like you know what back to action I'm going to take these dudes out and she does I was like okay why is this movie being being bagged on by critics this is a pretty solid start and the movie kept going I was like okay there are complaints before I get to the actual complaints what you need to know about the movie is it's a Zack Snider Space movie inspired by Star Wars which was inspired by other things itself if you're a Zack Snider fan you're going to be like this has exactly what I thought it would have if you don't like Zack Snider you're going to be like this has exactly what I thought it would have slowmo shots you know it man so many slow-mo shots slowmo shots jumping in the air slow-mo laser blasts even the [ __ ] rice dropped on the ground in slow-mo just gardeners throwing rice on the ground fur Garden rice maybe it was seeds doesn't make it more or less necessary for a slowmo shot not like anyone got blasted or anything it was just gardening I was like somehow I'm not surprised Michael Bay explosion Zack Snider slow-mo shots there's one scene where this dude is on a griffin shirt L abs are all out just this muscular handsome dude riding a griffin I was like I'll give him that there's no one else out there really making movies that feel like 80s fantasy cover art is that Zack Snider paying tribute to artist Boris vjo I don't know for sure but if I found out that was the case I would not be surprised but to its core essentially the formula of this movie is hop to a new planet recruit the new character Exposition dump rinon repeat that formula until the very end fight and credits you see Sci-Fi inspiration in here in a world where a lot of sci-fi and or video games have pulled from other sci-fi stories sci-fi fantasy whatever your flavor I feel like we're all going to watch this movie and Link it to something else we're all going to see different things different connections for me it felt like a very rushed Final Fantasy game where you're going to the different locations you end up meeting a new character you bring that new character onto the team thus your team is building everyone's coming together for a common goal it's that crushed into a movie actually was very Final Fantasy in the sense that everyone looked different I was going to say felt different I didn't get to know them well enough to say they felt different would have liked to have gotten to know the characters more it concentrates more on Sophia Bella's character which ends up being one of the problems rule of Cinema show don't tell giving me visual aids while someone is telling me the backstory does not count as show that's still tell and this happens a few times in the movie you get more Exposition dump with visual aids to go along with it something that usually happens at the beginning of a movie just happens sequentially throughout this movie there is intriguing lore in this universe in the canvas of this galaxy it's just not delivered to you in a way that feels organic so in the end is this movie as good as a Zack SNY fan probably wants it to be no is it as bad as you might fear no it's essentially the embodiment of the difference between potential and reality because this world has a lot of potential but the reality of execution is it's too much to cram into a movie a smaller band of Heroes that you can can get to know better and less Exposition vomit probably would have helped out a lot you don't really get attached to the characters except Sophia Bella's character she's the character that stands out and whatever he's going to do with the Droid in the sequel I'm intrigued to see that but it is solid Zack Snider visual eye candy there be the positives maybe by the end of chapter 2 and all the director Cuts is going to be a solid fleshed Out World as it stands right now I think this movie probably be a solid time if you're drunk yeah now it's a party I heard there's a director's cut coming out cuz everything has a director's cut nowadays but with Zack Snider I have seen where his director's cuts are Justified I hope it's that I hope it's like Batman v Superman dawn of Justice where you watch the director's cut and you're like oh so that's the actual version of the movie rather than the director's cut of Rebel Moon part one being oh it's bloodier people swear and there's more sex that would just feel wasteful why would he not just put the rated art director's cut out first well double the views baby got to be the reason all so Rebel Moon part one child of Fire have you seen it what did you think about it whatever you thought comment below let me know and as always if you like what you've seen here
flash was better I say that because Flash gets a lot of [ __ ] enjoy the flash or hate the flash regardless flash was better at the very least more cohesive why do I ruin my reviews in the first few seconds I don't know I never said I was good at this YouTube thing but YouTube thing I do so let's do the YouTube [Music] thing so Aquaman 2 lost Dynasty and the lost kingdom I was almost sorry Aquaman and the lost kingdom is the sequel to The billion dooll Blockbuster Aquaman this is once again directed by James Juan we have Arthur Curry teaming up with his brother orm Black Manta has returned more powerful than ever but there's more to it than that I'll get into it in a second so in terms of production this movie has been a schoras board of rumor mill early screenings were abysmal people said it was unreleasable rumors of re-shoot happening which actually does track there are moments in this movie I was like why does everyone feel like they're reading off of Q cards that would make sense if they felt they were done and then oh hey re-shoot can you come back all right they come back where's my script don't worry about it we just got to hammer this out there's the Q card go I can see re-shoot happening I can see that being the reason it feels like that or the dialogue just sucks there's that but early on this movie obviously suffered from an identity crisis this movie is a buddy comedy sometimes this tongue and cheek slapstick sometimes it wants to be badass sometimes and dramatic it's successful at being none of these things because it doesn't pick a path and commit to it there is a comedic moment or two that did make me laugh just like there's this trident battle between Aquaman and black man at the end that I thought was pretty cool brief instances all of them because in the end they're still thrown into this weird mess of a movie the plot of this movie I've already seen people call it essentially Dollar Store mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor fair for me because some of the visuals really reminded me of the intro to Mortal Kombat deception for me it reminded me of dollar sto and a gash from Warhammer was working through Black Manta to raise both him and onaga's dragon Army if Dollar Store Nash was a villain in Captain Planet because the plot is very Captain Planet and the pacing of this m man this movie is about 2 hours long the first Aquaman was 2 and 1 half hours long this movie should have at least been that long possibly 3 hours like example Aquaman's going to go get orm they Montage through with a voice over explaining what they're going to do and just kind of picks up when he's in the room with them maybe a little before that was clearly where they shaved some time but shaving that time compromised that scene that could have been a cool infiltration scene in the end it well just feels like the rest of the movie it happened I guess Manta ends up with this advanced yet ancient sub and a crew of people to run it where' he get the people how' they train how did he train them we don't know it just happened just have a little text that says five month months later don't question it movie just felt so disjointed you have a movie that's about 2 hours long that feels about an hour longer than that I was checking my watch so much in this movie at a point I was like okay we're coming up to the last Act only if wow oh my God we're only an hour in we're halfway through like I basically have to sit here for as long as I've already sat here again yeah this movie [ __ ] the bad speaking of which Amber herd's in the movie kind of it's one of the rumors about the movie is like they're kind of cutting Amber heard from the movie but she's still in the movie you saw the trailer you're like oh there's no there she is though she is terrible in this movie for the limited screen time she has a lot of people are because there's just [ __ ] dialogue in here there's this one scene where something happens and everyone's all no no no I was like where the [ __ ] am I right now I mean Amber herd's part was clearly cut down in this movie there's no reality No statement I'm going to hear a official or otherwise that's going to make me believe no this is how it was supposed to be from the beginning a movie revolving around Arthur Curry's family in which she just kind of has minimal screen time and the screen time she has she has very minimal dialogue her character in this movie feels like when you throw a party at your house and there's that one person that just hangs around and doesn't leave you got to have the one-on-one with them like look it's time to go I'm tired she was there with nothing to do felt like one of those characters you just can't help but think why have her here also this movie's in 3D wild get every penny they can back that's for sure we all saw the bad CGI in the trailer I get it it can't all be James Cameron it can't all be way of water but I feel like way of water just kind of broke me in a sense when it doesn't look that good it just breaks the immersion but speaking of immersion there were so many scenes where people were just standing around while they were talking in the ocean like they're in atlantiss just standing around or sitting down I get it actors hate being on those wires to be in underwater scenes I'm sure it's obnoxious that said from the viewer standpoint it just wasn't immersive I had to look at their hair to see if their hair was floating to see if they were underwater or not cuz they just stand around on land or stand around underwater since most of the underwater scenes like some battles aside there are scenes where people swim of course no one's on cables no one's suspended no one's floating it doesn't feel like they're underwater when they're underwater and the plot of this movie really compromised the only thing I was really looking forward to seeing which was manta's Revenge Quest Manta was a standout in the first movie I like the fact that we were going to see more of him in the second and here we go we see the trailer Mor man Revenge Quest not really because it's essentially dollar stor the gash poisoning his mind even talking through him by the end so it's his revenge Quest though it does say that's the motivation behind it in execution it's not his revenge Quest takes a side seat to Dollar Store NE gash the store I don't know why I keep calling him Dollar Store NE gash I like me the dead and War Hammer that's why there was one scene with Black Manta where the lights were all off and you just see the red eyes light up I was like that's it that's James Juan bringing something to this movie this is when you see the Fingerprints of James Juan I got to say it's the only time I saw that creepy moment intimidating figure movie wasn't trying to be some weird buddy comedy Fallen flat it was a good moment should have had more moments like that but yeah it was a real bummer that the Revenge tale really isn't what's happening not that any of it matters really it's leading to what it's leading to what nothing it's done it's over this is the funeral of the DCU really Arthur Curry's Arc sucks in this movie I mean I guess you can call it an arc retcon from the first movie look at the first movie he made no secrets about it he didn't want to go to Atlantis he did not want the Throne of Atlantis but he had no choice but I still felt like by the end he was like oh hey this is my destiny and I'm a king and I'm going to be a good King and Aquaman 2 apparently they had to backtrack on all that to give Arthur the illusion of complexity so he once again doesn't want the job though he likes telling people I'm the king of Atlantis hell yeah which is ego at that point CU he likes the title his heart isn't in it and he's had this job for a while it makes you question whether or not he is the guy for the job you're the [ __ ] King man this is a big deal if your heart's not in it if you're not committed pick someone else like in the end maybe there's a better 3-hour cut of this movie but unlike Napoleon I'm uninterested to see what that would look like for this the characters are a bunch of nothing Burgers they have no development they're just kind of there cuz the better villain of black manta's Revenge Quest has been wasted for another villain that you've just never heard about until now the CGI looks cartoonish there are moments of Patrick Wilson and Jason mimoa not enough to save it though not by a long shot too much going on not enough time to flesh any of it out nobody's going to remember this final nail this death rattle of the dceu not in T-minus one day yep already forgot so Aquaman in the lost kingdom have you seen it have you seen the end of the DC euu or what is your favorite DCU movie whatever it is whatever you think comment below let me know and as always if you like what
oh my God look at me it's a willly Wonka review and I'm a monochromatic no life no joy need a scarf for something there Christmas in the Northwest ladies and [Music] gentlemen so Wonka is directed by Paul King who directed The Paddington movies it's a remel SL prequel kind of tied to the Gene Wilder movies but not 100% because there are differences between the two universes it's a story of a young Willie Wonka talented in chocolate not a penny in his pocket didn't mean for that to rhyme but he is talented in chocolate not a penny in his pocket but he's going to rock it and then he'll sock it to the chocolate cartel we're going down a well going straight to hell at the Ring of the Bell he gets hustled into debt thus he's in servitude to work off that debt with a bunch of people who are also in the same boat does his main motivation Wonka and his friends have basically been enslaved in this laundry mat so he wants to make enough money from his chocolate to pay off their debts and open his huge Chocolate Factory which I won't lie when Wonka was signing the contract didn't read the fine print I was like oh the days of those multi- Channel networks on YouTube took me back not all joy but it did take me back do people still sign on to those real question have they gotten better do they hustle you like before all right so Timothy Shalom as a younger Willie Wonka I thought he was great he has the charismatic like ability you want from a protagonist in this kind of a story also from a younger version of the character Willie wonky you can see how this young talented Optimist might l become this older talented recluse and like I said like this this world of Wonka doesn't feel like it's a one toone ratio of a prequel to The Gan Wilder Willy Wonka but the tie-in are definitely there Hugh Grant plays an Ooma Loompa who looks identical to the Gene Wilder Willy Wonka Ooma Loompas the Oompa Loompa song some of the other songs in the movie are pulled straight from that version of Willy Wonka in the Chocolate Factory it's pulling what you need from a beloved classic which is probably smart to do when you stray too far fans don't tend to like that though the songs in the Tim Burton the Oompa Loompa songs in the Tim Burton movie I believe I remember them being more accurate they were more in line from the songs from the play my elementary school did back in the day I can say that funny observation don't want to compare the two movies too much cuz they are just not related but the Tim Burton Wily Wonka was trying to bring joy a childhood joy to people that he didn't have in his childhood because of his father Wonka in this movie is nostalgically chased fa in the childhood Joy he did have in his childhood because of his mother two very different pasts two very different Vibes I got to say I like the optimistic version of this one just a good time and it is a good time undeniably this movie is made for kids families yes but also kids like I've said before there's a difference between a movie that's made for families and made for children I myself found the movie it's like the phrase charmingly delightful when people say charmingly delightful I feel like this is the vibe they're talking about and which some of the jokes in the movie didn't land for me but I couldn't help but think like if my niece was watching this she would probably be laughing but there is enough to keep parents engaged also because actually deals with heavy themes heavy themes of Entrepreneurship corruption trying to start a small business when going up against Titans of business who are all aligned against you and let's face it the little guy going up against corporate douchebags that would have been enough that would have been enough to get the audience to be like I'm on that guy's side but that little guy being a beloved character from all of our childhoods I mean come on we're rooting for Wonka in here there are things in this movie my brain wants to give a pass to that I usually wouldn't give a pass to feels like it's me going through pathetic amounts of cope but all things not being equal these things that would be misses and other movies did mix better in here whether I say they're okay or not the important thing is that I just address them love or hate make of it what you will as long as you're informed my video wasn't completely useless that would be the noticeable CGI and the overuse of green screen in a world this Fantastical I get it you gotta but it was definitely noticeable in here but for the visual aesthetic of this extraordinary almost cartoonish larger than life kind of world it kind it mixed better than when I watch other movies and I'm like that CGI is very noticeable also some of the acting from the side characters I felt was meh sometimes it's meh sometimes it feels like they're in a play and they're projecting how actors and plays project cuz the back row needs to hear them like it almost feels like Sesame Street like gee Big Bird what are we going to do but I couldn't deny the fun and family Magic the movie did have in its presence the first two acts are stronger than the third act the third act has this whole Espionage element to it I was like okay this feels very different from the magic of the first two act kind of overplayed its hand with that element but when you feel the magic of wily Wonka on screen that's when the movie was at its strongest and I have myself a good time no alcohol required funny enough the last real solid memory Wily Wonka has with his mother in this movie is on a boat so does wiie Wonka associate boat rides with the loss of his mother thus boat rides in Wonka's factory are nightmare fuel I don't know possibly but that that does make sense all right so Wonka have you seen it what did you think about it whatever you thought comment below let me know and as always if you like what you've seen here
